Rules & Regulations


QUALIFICATION
 

  1. Race is open to male or female 18 years of age or older as of race day, who is in good health and can complete the race without getting lost.
    For youths who are 18 or 19 years old, parental/ guardian permission is required.
  2. Participants will be asked during registration to provide details of qualifying event name and time result record.
  3. 170K: Participants are required to have completed ultra trail race with minimum distance of 100K.
  4. 102K: Participants are required to have completed ultra trail race with minimum distance of 50K.
  5. 70K: Participants are required to have completed a trail race with minimum distance of 30K, for example Rinjani 100 36K, BTS Ultra 30K or others related trail race with the same distance, any road full marathon or beyond are accepted.
  6. 30K: Participants are not required for any qualification but strongly suggest capable minimum distance of 15K to 21K and runners are strongly advised to educate themselves with the nature and challenges of trail run.
  7. Participants are required to go through medical examination with doctor at hospital of own choosing, and have the supplied medical certificate filled-in, signed and stamped by the the doctor.
  8. Organizers reserve exclusive rights to approve/deny registration, including the right to award dispensation (with careful consideration) for those that do not meet the qualification criterias.


CUT OFF TIME

For Safety Reason 100 Miles runner, this year we imply Cut Off Time 24 Hours in WS8 Pananjakan KM88 before you are going to the WS9. No 100Miles Runners Allowed to continue after this Cut Off Time 24hours in WS8 Pananjakan.

  1. 30 km (7 hours Cut Off Time)
  2. 70 kilometer (18 hours Cut Off Time)
  3. 102 kilometer (32 hours Cut Off Time)
  4. 170 kilometer (42 hours Cut Off Time)

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  1. You understand the unique nature and requirements of competing in an ultra-long distance trail running race. You will be running in the dark of early morning and all day through mountainous terrain and have undertaken the necessary training to compete in such a race.
  2. You will be responsible for yourself and have the ability to deal with any problems that may be encountered during the race.
  3. You are able to deal with, on your own without assistance, deteriorating weather conditions (low temperatures, strong winds, and rain) and other troubles expected when traveling across mountainous terrain.
  4. You are able to deal with extreme fatigue, internal organ and digestive problems, muscle pain, mild physical injuries and psychological problems on your own.
  5. You fully understand that you are responsible for overcoming the above conditions 1 to 4 on your own and that it is not the responsibility of the race organization.
  6. You are fully aware that when participating in an outdoor activity such as this race, your safety depends on your own skills and abilities.
  7. Video/television footage, photos, articles, race results, etc. may be used and/or shown in newspapers, television, magazines, internet, pamphlets, etc.
  8. You understand and agree that these rights belong to the race organization and may be used for these purposes.

GEAR & EQUIPMENT
Mandatory:
  1. BIB
  2. Long Sleeve Baselayer or Windproof jacket for extreme cold weather
  3. Mobile phone (Advised to get a prepaid local number with data plan, available at shops around race central. If using number that is different from your registration, please inform organizer)
  4. Hydration Bag, Hydrobag or Hydration Vest, minimum capacity 1.0 Litre, must be filled-up before START, and to be refilled at water station. Do not hand-carry your bottles, if you bring bottles please put them in your bag. You need your hands for more important situation during the race.
  5. Personal food (energy gels, bars, chomps, powders)
  6. For 102KM, and 170KM categories: 2 Headlamps with functional battery + spare battery (1 can be spare lights, in forms of torchlight).
  7. For 70KM categories: 1 Headlamps with functional battery + spare battery.
  8. For 70KM, 102KM, and 170KM categories: Waterproof Jacket
  9. Survival/Emergency Blanket
  10. Whistle
  11. Personal cup 150 ml minimum. We do not provide cup at water station in effort to reduce waste garbage.
  12. Basic Aid-Kit, and personal medicines (e.g. for allergies)
  13. Printed map for 70KM, 102KM, and 170KM 
  14. It will be best for you just to carry small amount of money

Highly Recommended:
  1. Suitable apparels and equipment for extreme cold weather and rain (long sleeves, leggings, jacket, mitten, gloves, buff, light raincoat)
  2. Runners for 70KM, 102KM, and 170KM, might want to prepare for hot weather as well in the savanna (cap, arm sleeves)
  3. Gaiter for 30KM, 70KM, 102KM, and 170KM, due to sandy sections in the Bromo Sea of Sand
  4. Life, accident or travel insurance.
Please view these gears and equipment list as more for safety necessity instead of being just compulsory items.

 

REFUND POLICY

  1. Any cancellations is not allowed when your registration status is approved and paid. This also means that we are prohibited to use other runner's BIB for insurance and qualifications reasons. You will be disqualified and banned for 1 event race when you are running with other runner's BIB number and the real bib number holder will be baned for 2 other this event race.
  2. When your registration status is paid and your BIB number isued then you are prohibited to downgrade or upgrade the race category.
  3. We will provide BIB transfer windows and downgrade/upgrade in mid of September 2023, but strictly no carry over to next year for whatever reason.

 

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE & CONSIDERATION FOR OTHERS
 

  1. If during the race, you encounter another runner or staff member who is injured or sick and unable to move on their own, please give priority to assisting that person by telling race staff for assistance.
  2. The race is located on national park and other public/private property places. Please be mindful and share the trail with others at all times. There will be “no passing sections” signs along the race course where you will be prohibited from passing other runners and hikers.
  3. Do not damage any property located along the race course.

AID STATIONS

  1. Food and drinks will be provided at selected Water / Aid Stations. Please refer to our Course Maps for such locations.
  2. The food and drinks at the aid stations are only for the racers.
  3. Non-registered racers may not run alongside racers. (No pacers allowed).
 
OUTSIDE SUPPORT
  1. Outside support by family and friends is ALLOWED in appointed WS only.
  2. The food and drinks at the aid stations are only for the racers, supporter in the appointed team support allowed WS is not allowed to take food or drinks, runner strictly take food and drink and then go to Support Area
  3. Outside support by family and friends should manage their own transports and pay entry free and their own meals in the support allowed WS, organizer only provide space for support and no food or drinks allowed to be taken by team support at the support allowed WS area.

MEDICAL ASSISTANCE DURING THE RACE
 

  1. In order to ensure race safety, race organizer will prepare and arrange for rescue and medical assistance during the race. However, each participant must recognize and understand that there are risks that may result in injuries and/or accidents associated with trail running. You are responsible for yourself and will be participating in this race at your own risk.
  2. Emergency and first aid tents staffed by a doctor and/or nurse will be located at pointed aid stations. All aid stations will have radio communication to race headquarters.
  3. Emergency rescues/procedures will be available to racers as well all those involved in the race (e.g. staff, supporters).
    • Please note that, depending on the area, it may take a long period of time for help to reach you.
    • If you receive emergency medical assistance from a rescue crew and/or doctor, please make sure that you get examined by a medical expert at a hospital after the race. Please contact the race organizer centre to let them know of your condition after the medical examination.
  4. Doctors and rescue staff have the authority to stop a runner from continuing the race.
  5. If you drop out of the race, you can continuing walk by take a shorter path back to finish line on your own.
  6. Depending on your condition, an emergency evacuation may be required. This evacuation will be at the expense of the person being rescued. For all racers must be obtain adequate travel insurance coverage for the duration of your stay.


RACE COURSE MARKERS

  1. The race course will be marked using marking tapes and signs. Race staff will also be positioned along the course. Dangerous areas up in the mountains will be marked by ropes and patrolled by staff in order to reduce risk.
    (Note: Permission has been obtained from the appropriate land owners and property managers to put up temporary signs and marking tapes)
  2. The marking tapes will always be placed on a bamboo sticks along the Bromo sea sand, at branches, grasses or bushes that on your eye level sight (about 1,5 metres above the ground). And it will always be on your left side along the race route. But it will be possible that the marking will be placed on your right side if there's no possibility to put it on the left side (ex : ravine or valley)
  3. On the tracks for 170K and 102K category you will find two different marking for 170K and 102K category because the track will be going on different way. There will be extra stickers that will show which way for each category (so please read the signs and the course map carefully). Further details will be given.
  4. For the route that will be passed at night time we will add extra reflector at the marking tapes.
  5. And for the Bromo sea sand route we will placed additional blinking led lamps along the route at night.
  6. Racers will be stopped at road intersections. Please follow the directions given by the race staff at these intersections.
  7. The above signs and markers will be set up just before the race and will be immediately removed after the race.
  8. There will be a “no-passing” section as well as other sections with specific rules/conditions. Please abide by these rules.


DROPPING OUT OF THE RACE

  1. If you decide to drop out of the race, you must notify race staff. Please remove your race card/bib and and report to a race staff member so that race Organizer Center can be notified. Once you’ve dropped out of the race, you will not be able to re-start.
  2. Remember to keep your race card with you as you will need it to retrieve your bags from the bag storage area.
 

DROP BAGS

  1. There are no drop bags for the 30KM and  70KM categories
  2. There will be drop bag station
    • 102KM (at WS4 Bromo Hillside Aid Station KM 42.3)
    • 170KM (at WS4 Bromo Hillside Aid Station KM 42.3, also WS9 Pananjakan KM 87.9, and back to WS4 Bromo Hillside Aid Station KM 140.8).


PROHIBITED ACTIONS

A racer may be disqualified or penalized at any time during the race for the following reasons:

  1. Taking shortcuts and/or running off the trails.
  2. Not carrying the mandatory equipment.
  3. Throwing garbage onto the course.
  4. Receiving outside support.
  5. Running with people who are not officially registered in the race as racers.
  6. Cheating (e.g. using other means of transportation, using substitute runners, and other unlawful actions).
  7. Not abiding by the instructions given by official race staff including doctors, nurses, and emergency staff.
  8. Continuing to run after the cut off times.
  9. Doping and the use of prohibited drugs.

Racer and Race Organization Responsibilities

RACER RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. You understand the unique nature and requirements of competing in an ultra-long distance trail running race. You will be running all day and night through mountainous terrain and have undertaken the necessary training to compete in such a race.
  2. You will be responsible for yourself and have the ability to deal with any problems that may be encountered during the race.
  3. You are able to deal with, on your own without assistance, deteriorating weather conditions (low temperatures, strong winds and rain ) and other troubles expected when traveling across mountainous terrain.
  4. You are able to deal with extreme fatigue, internal organ and digestive problems, muscle pain, mild physical injuries and psychological problems on your own.
  5. You are fully aware that when participating in an outdoor activity such as this race, your safety depends on your own skills and abilities.

RACE CANCELLATION

The race organization reserves the right to cancel or cut-short the race for the following reasons:

  1. Weather warnings sent by the meteorological agency
  2. The inability to ensure runner safety due to risks such as landslides and rockfalls along the course.
  3. Natural disasters (or declared warnings issued by the “BMKG-Badan Meteorologi Klimatologi Geofisika and TNBTS-Taman Nasional Bromo Tengger Semeru) In such a case, the race course cannot be changed to continue the race, nor will the race be postponed to a later date.
  4. The decision as to whether or not the race will be cancelled will be made on the day before the race or on the day of the race. This will be communicated via the official race website.
  5. In the event of an earthquake, hurricane/typhoon, flood, incidents, accidents and/or epidemics, the race organization reserves the right to make judgments and decisions regarding the shortening/cancelling of the race.


MISCELLANEOUS

  1. The race organizer is entitled to revoke the winner's title or finishers if cheating or violations is found later on.
  2. The race organizer's decision cannot be contested, yet is binding and final.
  3. The race organizer is entitled to add or change the rules and regulations if deemed necessary. All the changing will be notified through website.
